There is no market failure in Australia's gas supply
It is good to see a focus on the future of Australian manufacturing by the high-powered National COVID-19 Coordination Commission chaired by Nev Power. However, the leaked draft report of the NCCC’s manufacturing taskforce is an odd document.
Gas has apparently dominated the taskforce’s discussions, even though there is only a tenuous link between the natural gas used mostly in traditional industries and modern, advanced manufacturing. It is not surprising, therefore, that Power has distanced himself from the draft.
