Melbourne nurses call on Premier for COVID payment, citing 'dire' conditions

 Melbourne emergency department nurses are calling on the Victorian Premier to introduce a COVID disaster payment for their workforce after months of "dangerous and unrelenting" working conditions. 

The petition comes as the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation urges the government not to open up "early" ahead of the proposed slight easing of restrictions at the weekend, as hospitals could become overwhelmed with COVID patients.
